Bean and Void: Fire Watching

Fire Watching

This particular issue was very difficult for me, personally. Not only was it a struggle to recreate the border on every panel, but it was difficult subject to face myself. I first stumbled on the fire watching trend on TikTok and I remember saying to myself, "Hey, I understand that feeling" and how I so badly wanted to capture those moments. To share them with everyone and say,

 You're not alone.

For people like me, the night is always the hardest. Sometimes, it's not so bad. Just a moment and it passes; the feeling of anxiety that you just can't place your finger on. Some nights though, it drags you under and you just can't breathe until you hear the birds or see the sunrise the next morning.

#firewatch

You're not alone.

While making this, I struggled so many times and had to put it down. I sat with myself every night and asked myself so many questions. Why do I feel like this, how do I translate this onto paper, and how can I make the difference needed to not only help myself but other people who feel this way too? So, as you read through these panels, know that every single one meant everything to me. Every line, color choice, and word. Just to let you know,

You're not alone.

I believe in you, I'm proud of you, and I love you. With each step you take, you are moving mountains. One more day, one more sunrise. And know that while you are fighting, I'm here beside you. I will sit with you in the dark and I will cheer on your every victory.

Because I truly believe that you can be the person you want to be.

You can rest now; I'll take the next watch.
